About the formats
MP3 – compressed audio
MP3 saves space by leaving out sound most people don't hear. The MP3 decoder has to rebuild the audio every time it plays, which some programs and hardware don't do.
WAV – uncompressed PCM
WAV stores the decoded samples as they are, so any editor, sampler or CD program opens it. A minute at 44.1 kHz stereo takes about 10.6 MB. The WAV sounds the same as the MP3: converting can't bring back what MP3 compression removed.
FLAC and M4A
FLAC is lossless like WAV and about half the size, and most modern programs open it. M4A (AAC at 256 kbps) is for iPhones and iTunes. WAV and FLAC files can be up to 30 minutes long.

Does converting MP3 to WAV improve the sound?
No. What MP3 compression left out can't be restored, so the WAV sounds the same as the MP3. You convert to WAV so that programs and devices that need WAV can open the file, and so that editing it doesn't compress it a second time.
What sample rate and bit depth does the WAV have?
16-bit PCM at the MP3's own sample rate, usually 44.1 kHz, with the same number of channels. That is CD quality, and every program reads it.
How big will the WAV be?
About 10.6 MB per minute at 44.1 kHz stereo, roughly seven times the size of a 192 kbps MP3. FLAC keeps the same sound at about half the size of the WAV.
Is there a length limit?
WAV and FLAC files can be up to 30 minutes long each, because the result is held in your browser's memory. Each source file can be up to 2 GB, and up to 20 files at a time.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser with a WebAssembly build of FFmpeg. Only the audio engine (about 31 MB) is downloaded, once; your files never leave your device.
