Which shift for what

Common reasons to change the pitch, and the shift they usually need.

−3…+3Fit a song to your voice: a few semitones down if the high notes are too high, up if it sits too low.
−5…+5Play along in a key that is easy on your instrument, like moving a capo.
−1 (½ step down)Match a band that tunes half a step down (E♭ tuning).
−31.8 centsRetune music from A = 440 Hz to A = 432 Hz.
±12A full octave up or down, for effects and samples.

What the pitch changer does

Pitch without speed

The pitch moves and the tempo stays: the song is resampled, then time-stretched back to its length.

Semitones and cents

Up to 12 semitones each way, plus up to 50 cents of fine tuning for recordings that are slightly off.

The new key

Tell the page the original key and it shows the key you are moving to. Don't know it? The key detector finds it.

432 Hz in one tap

The 440 → 432 Hz preset applies the exact shift (−31.8 cents).

MP3, WAV or M4A

MP3 at 192 kbps, 16-bit WAV up to 30 minutes, or M4A; video files give their sound.

Pitch changer FAQ

Keys, semitones, quality and privacy.

How do I change the pitch of a song without changing the speed?

Choose the song, move the Semitones slider (or tap −2, −1, +1, +2) and press Change the pitch. The pitch moves and the tempo stays the same.

How many semitones should I lower a song to sing it?

Usually 1 to 3. One semitone is the smallest step on a piano; 12 semitones is an octave. Try −2, listen, and adjust.

How do I change the key of a song?

Each semitone moves the key one step: C major up 2 semitones is D major. Choose the original key on the page and it shows the new key as you move the slider.

How do I convert a song to 432 Hz?

Tap 440 → 432 Hz. It lowers the pitch by −31.8 cents, which turns A = 440 Hz into A = 432 Hz, and keeps the tempo.

Does changing the pitch lower the quality?

Small shifts (a few semitones) sound natural. Large shifts can sound processed: voices get chipmunk-like going up and dark going down. Save as WAV for the cleanest result.

Can I change the pitch and the speed?

Yes. Change the pitch here, then press Change the speed too to open the result in the speed changer, where you can keep or change the pitch again.

Which formats can I open and save?

Most audio and video files up to 2 GB open. You can save MP3 (192 kbps), WAV (up to 30 minutes) or M4A.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The audio engine (ffmpeg) runs in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. It is free and needs no account.
