How to identify a song on Twitch
To identify a song playing on a Twitch stream, install the AHA Music Chrome extension, open the stream, and click the extension icon; it listens to the tab's audio and names the track within seconds. Pasting the stream link does not work because a live stream has no file to download.
- Install the AHA Music extension in Chrome or Edge.
- Open the Twitch stream and let it play.
- Click the AHA Music icon in the toolbar; it listens to the tab for a few seconds.
- Read the title and artist, then open the song page for streaming links.
Why Twitch is different
A Twitch stream is live: there is no finished file to download and scan, so link-based identifiers fail on it. The audio only exists in your browser tab while it plays, and that is exactly what the extension captures.
Streamers often run music under game audio and their own voice. Recognition works on the mix as it reaches your tab, so a loud commentary moment can hide a quiet track; wait for a few seconds of clearer music and try again.
Many Twitch channels play DJ sets or long playlists. Each click identifies the track playing right now, so for a set you identify song by song. The pages under "songs played on Twitch streams" collect what listeners found on a channel over time.

When it fails, and what to do
- The streamer is talking over the music.
- Wait for a quieter moment and click again; the extension needs a few seconds of music.
- The track is a remix, a mashup or an unreleased edit.
- Remixes often match the original; ask the streamer for the edit itself.
- The stream is muted or the tab was opened in a picture-in-picture window.
- Keep the stream playing in a normal tab and click the icon from that tab.
- The music is a stream-safe library track.
- Royalty-free libraries are only partly covered; the result may show a similar release.

All Twitch pagesQuestions about Twitch
Can I identify a song on Twitch without the extension?
Hold your phone to the speakers and use the microphone identifier, or download a clip and upload it. Pasting the stream URL does not work because there is no file behind a live stream.
Does it work on Twitch VODs and clips?
Yes. Anything that plays in the tab can be identified, including VODs and clips.
Does the streamer know I used it?
No. The extension only listens to the audio in your own tab; it sends nothing to Twitch or the streamer.
What does "songs played on this stream" mean on the channel pages?
Those pages list songs that AHA Music users identified while watching that channel, grouped by day. Counts are shown as rough ranges and no user data is published.
Is it free?
The extension has a free daily allowance; the pricing page lists the current limits.
