How to identify a song on Facebook

To find the song in a Facebook Reel or video, copy the post's link (Share, then Copy link), paste it into AHA Music's video URL identifier, and start the scan; it fetches the public video's audio and lists the songs it contains with timestamps. Private or friends-only posts cannot be fetched; for those, play the video and use the Chrome extension instead.

  1. Open the Reel or video on Facebook and copy its link (Share, then Copy link).
  2. Paste the link into the box above and start the scan.
  3. Read the songs found, with the time each one plays.
  4. For private posts, play the video and click the AHA Music extension icon instead.

Why Facebook is different

Facebook video links come in several shapes: facebook.com/reel/…, facebook.com/watch/?v=…, fb.watch short links and share links with tracking parameters. The scanner accepts them all, but only public videos can be fetched; a video you can see because you are friends with the poster is not reachable by our server.

Reels usually carry a licensed track mixed under speech, and Facebook does not show the title the way Instagram does. The scan lists every track it can match and where in the video it plays, which is the part the "what song is this" comments are asking for.

Videos longer than 1 hour are not scanned from a link; for a long live replay, play it and use the extension on the part you care about.

When it fails, and what to do

The post is private, friends-only or in a closed group.

The link is a profile or page, not a video.
Open the video itself and copy the link from its Share menu.
The track is a creator's original sound or a voice-over.
Only released music is in the catalogue; original sounds have no match.
The video is longer than 1 hour.
Use the extension on the part you care about.

Questions about Facebook

Does it work on Facebook Reels?

Yes. Public Reels are fetched from their link; the scan lists the songs found and when they play.

Why does the scan fail on a video I can watch?

You may see it because of your friends or group membership. Our server has no such access; use the extension while it plays.

Can I find the song from a Facebook live?

While it is live, use the extension. After it ends, the public replay can be scanned from its link if it is under 1 hour.

Does it find the song in a Facebook Story?

Stories have no shareable video link. Play the story and use the extension.
